GISTR

YEASTERDAY (in Dutch a combination

of yeast and yesterday)

Each day, 435.000 loaves of bread are

thrown away in the Netherlands. This

counts up to 380 kilograms a year! All

these loaves are deposited or are used to

feed animals. Whilst actually this bread

could be given a second life.

“YEASTERDAY” takes action against the

bread oversupply and fabricates platters,

cocktail shelves and cutting plates from

old bread. These platters are shaped like

the yeast organism to visualise the new

life of the old loaves of bread.

Bread will be cut and buttered on these

platters, so things have come full circle.

Yesterday’s bread is the plate of tomorrow!
